  • From there, here were the steps in detail for painting my German infantry. The PaK 40 and its crew went on two of the 60mm bases which I cut and glued together. The high command set went on a 60mm plastic base from Proxie Models. Individual figures get a little flash clean up before being glued to metal washers. My painting approach is pretty standard for my German forces. The artillery piece and the high command set both allowed me to create little tabletop battlefield vignettes while deployed with other individual models. As always, the 28mm metal models from Warlord go nicely with my other Germans in both scale and sculpting. I picked up a deal on a few blister packs of 28mm Warlord Games Bolt Action metal miniatures at last year’s HMGS Fall In! 2015 convention, including a PaK 40, a forward observer team and a German high command set. As the modern video below shows, the PaK 40 was fearsome weapon.Īfter modelling so many German infantry figures over the past year, I very much wanted to mix things up.

Used throughout the war in every theater, the some 20,000 guns produced were the bane of every Allied tank. Here's a couple more pics. The standard anti-tank gun of German forces in World War II was the 7.5 cm PaK 40. Then a Badab Black wash for everything else. When everything was dry, then a quick wash of Devlan Mud for the skulls, bones, and talons. A little mechrite red and sunburst yellow for the eyes, mechrite red for the tongue. Then Bleached Bone for the skulls, bones and talons. Then Mechrite Red for the loincloth with a Blazing Orange highlight. I gave him a simple drybrush paintjob with GW Knarloc Green, Snot Green and Scorpion Green for the skin. I glued a piece of pigskin scrapbook paper to the base to simulate cobblestone, and then glued the brick and the model onto the base. I drilled into his right foot, and pinned him onto a small brick from the Hirst Arts Small Brick Mold. The Ghoul King model was intended to be mounted on a Zombie Dragon, so his feet aren't correctly positioned for standing. I had seen on the interwebs where someone used the new Ghoul King from the GW Terrorgheist kit for a Ghoul Hero, and so a quick trip to e-bay netted me the Ghoul King bits for my new Ghoul Hero. However, once I got one of them promoted with a "The Lad's Got Talent" roll, I wanted a fancier model to show his new status. They're pretty nice sculpts with a decent pre-paint. I had been using some Heroscape Ghouls for my warband's Ghouls. I just finished a new Ghoul Hero for my Undead Warband for Mordheim.
